Homoly & Barone

Michigan DUI lawyer Patrick Barone recently spoke at the Advanced DUI Seminar in Ohio.  Dr. Paul Homoly also spoke at this seminar.  Their collective topic?  How to be persuasive by being interesting.

Dr. Homoly spoke first and explained to the group of Ohio criminal defense lawyers what it means to be influential with the jury.  He described the importance of making a “connection” with the jury.   Dr. Homoly explained that there are two ways to make this connection.  The first way is to connect with your eyes; the second is to connect with disclosure.

Here is a portion of what he said about connection:

Dr. Homoly also described the particular power of disclosure and how disclosure relates to connection.  He explained that personal disclosure “makes you exquisitely interesting” with the jury:

Barone spoke afterward and picked up where Dr. Homoly left off.  Barone talked about how to use disclosure during voir dire in a criminal trial.  Also, how disclosure during voir dire by the attorney in a criminal case is far more effective than when the same thing is done by the judge.

More videos are available on YouTube.

Thanks to Tim Huey for putting together an awesome seminar.

Hey Pat,
Dr. Homoly is brilliant. Thank you for introducing him to our group. I still listen to his Breakthough tapes while I'm driving. Cheers,
Andrew Mishlove
